Happy Friday!

Hello-

I am so ready for the weekend.  Work has been crazy this week!

I am excited for tommorrow morning...I get to go shopping!  Now that hubby is back to work, I can go get my son and I some Spring duds.  B is growing like a weed and at 20 mos old he is ready for 3T!  There is this awesome consignment sale going on called Kids Closet that I am going to go to.  Hubby is going to watch B so I can actually think while I shop ;-)  After that, I am going to stop at a nice consignment store and look for some Spring clothes for me.  All my Spring clothes from last year are 2 to 3 sizes too big!

On the Lap Band front, I got a fill on Tuesday and I think I may finally have it my sweet spot.  I can only eat about 4oz of food and it lasts me for 3-4 hrs.  I finally have to be really careful about chewing.  The negative is I PB'd for the first time :-(  Not fun but you live through it.  I have already lost 3 lbs since Tuesday!

Lately, I have been really into cooking.  I love making new band-friendly recipes and trying to make them family-friendly.  I have been scouring cookbooks in the evening and actually find in relaxing!  I am really tired of not getting dinner on the table until 7:30pm - it's just too late for my toddler.  So, last Saturday afternoon I made 5 meals and froze them.  We have ate them all week and have been done with dinner by 7pm!  So I'm going to make my grocery list and try to do the same for next week.

Does anybody have any easy band-friendly freezeable recipes to share?

Have a Good Day!
Dawn

  1. Congrats on the fill and getting to your sweet spot. I have some gastric bypass friendly recipes on one of my blog but don't know how they would work with the band. I see you know Eggface. She is a great resource. :)

  3. Here' s chili recipe that we love.

    3c chopped yellow onion ( I used 1 yellow and 1 red)
    1 1/4 lbs 99% lean ground turkey
3c diced tomatoes (i used canned which is ok)
1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans
1 can (15 ounces) black beans
    2tbsp chopped garlic
    2tbsp chili powder
    1tbsp oregano
    1tbsp cumin
    1 tsp mustard powder
    1/2c chopped scallions

I chopped and cooked the onion to just translucent. Cook the turkey seperate so it stays kinda chunky. I added everything else together in a pot and let it start to bubble away. When turkey is fully cooked add the turkey and onion mix to the rest of your ingredients. Let it simmer away for about 20mins. We added a mild taco seasoning packet to the chili at the end for a little more flavor. This only adds about 10cals per serving to the chili. This makes 12, 1cup servings Per serving: 150cals (add 10cals if you used the taco packet), 16g protein, 17g carbs, 3g sugar,2g fat (0 saturated), 20mg cholesterol. 150mg sodium (this will be higher if you add the seasoning packet)

you could freeze this in individual servings. so yummy and so filling! hope you enjoy it :)

  5. I wish I had some good "bandster-friendly" recipes to share, but I eat pretty much the same as before. One thing I do enjoy now that I never even considered before is sweet potato fries instead of regular potato fries. I can shoot you the recipe I always use if you want it? (Not sure if you like sweet potatoes, though!)

I'm glad you found your sweet spot, I hope it continues to be a good fill level for you. :) Oh, and you'll have to take pictures of your new clothes for us! I love Spring clothes!
