BYOC

Are you a heavy or light sleeper?

HEAVY!  A freaking freight train could go through my bedroom and I would still be snoozin' away!

If you were made into a professor for a day, what topic would you lecture on?

I would probably lecture on antisocial and sociopath characteristics in teens and substance abuse/addiciton.  This would be my choice because it is what I know and have experience speaking about anyways.  If I were to choose something that I just enjoy - it would be US History - post Revolution to World War II.  I am a history geek....

What’s a skill you’ve always wanted that you don’t currently have?

Two things
1) to play the piano orr guitar - I think it would be wonderful to be able to create music and have that outlet.

2) Math skills! I SUCK at Math.  Like super suck.  In college I got straight A's in all my classes, including upper level Poli Sci, Statistical Analysis, and Soc class,  but fought like hell to get a C in college Algebra.  I really wanted to be a Veterinarian but gave it up early due to having such a hard time with Math.

Have you ever been in a real cat fight?

I have been in a fight, but not a cat fight.  A girl in high school, that was my friend in elementary school, used to make fun of me at lunch for being fat.  One day she sat down next to me and was talking about how I shouldn't be eating and bla bla.  I snapped.  I stood up and dumped my lunch on her head and then broke the tray over head...then I walked straight to the principal office and reported what I had done.  I got sent home for the day.  The next day, the same girl came up to where I was sitting at lunch and attempted to pour her milk on me.  I stopped her by punching her in the face.  Then I got up and walked straight to the principals office and reported what I had done.  We both got sent home for the day.  I did not have any more issues with her.  The interesting thing is that when she was making fun of me for being fat - Iw as only 160 lbs and 5ft 2.  I was chubby, but hell, I will take it now!

Repeat question: Summarize your week in real life and in blog land.

In blog land, I am back!  I am committed to blogging.  Like the band, it is a tool that I have to use correctly if I want help.
In real life, things are getting better.  Hubby is walking around, my son is feeling better, and it is FRIDAY!!!

Back in the Saddle

Long time no blog.  I have been following everyone else's blog, but have no made an appearance on my own.  I I haven't been blogging because I have felt like I don't really have anything to contribute.  I have just kinda kept in my own head.  I am at a stand still with my weight loss (since Christmas) and I want to see if blogging will help.  I have had a rough past few month and I think I have been eating my stress.  Maybe if I share my thoughts and feelings through my blog, I won't feel as much need to soothe myself with my Old drug of choice.

Here is a quick update on the past few months:

December 2010
Christmas was good despite being financially strained.  My husband was cut to part-time for the winter - he works in the concrete business.  I'm a probation officer and my caseload increased by 1/3 in a matter of two weeks.  As usual, there was constant talk of cut backs and lay offs.  Our house in town has been for sale for over a year at this point and we are struggling to maintain two houses financially and physically.  My son's asthma has been acting up, too.  I reached 75lbs lost and managed to maintain my weight through the holidays.

January 2011
Our house in town finally sold!  Went through alot of leg work and money getting the sale to go through.  due to the housing market, we lost over $20,000 and had to carry it over on our current mortgage.  My husband was laid off the 2nd week of January (just temporarily until Spring).  Once again, my caseload at work continued to grow -  it is roughly double what is was in November.  On January 24th, my husband fell on ice and broke his ankle.  No more unemployment now, Dr.'s bills coming in, more work at home for me.  I am effectively a single parent with 2 children - 20 mos old and 33 yrs old - with a farm to also keep going.  I only get 5 to 6 hrs of sleep a night and I eat anything I can.  No pounds lost or gained.

February 2011
Continuation of no sleep and lots of work.  Add in sick baby twice and carting my husband all over kingdom come.  I really feel like I'm losing my grip.  The good news is - my husband is in a walking boot and walking as of yesterday.  He is approved to go back to work on Monday.  He is still laid off for the winter but he will be able to collect unemployment again!  I am hoping this will start an upswing for us.  No pounds lost, one pound gained.

My goal for March 2011 is  get back on track - with weight loss, finances, and managing my workload.  I want to "get a grip" again.  I am going to start blogging regularly and hopefully get some followers (Thanks Ronnie for being my one and only follower!).  I need some support in my life right now and I am hoping I have came to the right place!

ROCK-OUT-WITH-OUR-BOOBS-OUT

1) You’re trapped on a desert island and you can bring only 3 of your favourite foods along. What do you bring?
Pizza, my Mom's Apple Cookies, and Diet Coke (used to be my fav)

2) If you could meet any 3 people, living or dead, who would they be and why?

My Great Grandfather - Marvin- because my entire family talks about how great of a man he was.
Steven Tyler - because I love Aerosmith and he rocks.
Dolly Pardon - because I have heard she is an awesome person and she is just interesting

3) What is your stripper name? (take the name of your first pet and the name of the street you grew up on)

Scuffy 100th - that doesn't work!  How about my current pet and street - Harley Santa Fe...that is a little better.

4)  What is your LEAST favourite part of your bod since losing weight? Your MOST favourite since losing weight?

I hate my saggy apron belly...it just hangs there all flaccid and doughy.  I don't have a favorite part, but, I am liking how my face is thinning, my boobs are shrinking, and I actually have nice shoulders.

5) Do you believe in ghosts or evil spirits? Would you be willing to spend a night alone in a house that is supposedly haunted?

I choose not to believe in evil spirits - I do believe in good spirits.  I grew up on a five generation farm and I am positive that my grandparents, great grand parents, and great great grandparents watch over us there.  I am unwilling to spend the night alone in ANY strange house - it is the living I am more wary of!

6) What is your natural hair colour? If you dye it something completely different from what your momma gave ya, how come?

I haven't died my hair in over 10 years.  It is Dark Brown with some wonderful grays.  The wierd thing is, I was blonde for the first 13 yrs of my life and then my hair started turning dark.  My mom was the same way.

7) Boxers or briefs? Alternatively…bikinis or granny panties?

Gimme a man in some black boxer-briefs!  Alas, my hubby likes to wear his dingy tighty whities!  I wear granny panties but I am on my way to some bikinis!

8) If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? (Trilogies do not count as one movie, cheaterpantses!)

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - it is hilarous, centered around my fav holiday, and just makes me feel good after I watch it.

9) What is your guilty pleasure (feel free to go straight to the gutter with this one if the spirit moves you!)

We will just say "alone time" and leave it at that!

10) How many pounds gone forever are you celebrating?? :)

48 lbs in less than two months!!!!!

I miss my old friend...

Before I was banded, I ate lots of sweets, smoked 1/2 a pack per day, and drank 4-5 Diet Cokes per day.  I 2 weeks before my surgery and I don't eat more that 30 carbs a day - I am doing fine with that.  My problem you ask?  I would do about anything...and yes, I mean anything!!!...for a Diet Coke.  I have tried Diet Snapple, Powerade Zero, G@, VitaminWater, Minute Maid Pomegranite Tea, Minute Maid Light Lemonade - nothing satisfies my thirst like a cold DC!  I WANT DIET COKE!!! I am begining to wonder if I really can live life without my Diet Coke.  I am foghting my cravings but it is so hard since my surgeon never even explained why I cannot have one...help!

Begining to feel some FABulousness!

This past weekend was a whirlwind!  We moved all of our belongings into our new home (the hours I grew up in!) and unpacked in 48 hrs- that is amazing when you have a one year old and 7 years worth of crap!  I lost 3 lbs over the weekend, so, I am now down 41 lbs.  While unpacking my clothes, I found my I business suit that I used to LOVE wearing a few years ago - it used to fit me well and I got so many complements on the plum color,  I said to my husband that I can't wait to be able to wear it again.  He suggested I try it one...Voila!, no waiting!  It fits perfectly!  I am wore it today to an important finance meeting I had and the chair person stopped talk once to tell me (in front of everyone!) how beautiful my suit is!  I am feeling a little FABULOUS!!!!

I may have to get this suit taken in as I lose more weight!

I'm Back!

So, I had surgery on 7/28/10. Everything went well and I have healed up! I recieved my first fill of 4cc on 9/7/10. I still feel hungry sometimes but it is a different hungry than before surgery. It is probably "normal hunger" now, ha ha! I have lost 38 lbs in 6 weeks and I am finally starting to have hope again.

My favorite thing so far has been pulling old clothes out that I haven't been able to wear in two years and the fit now!

I am promising myself that I will Blog often. I have been cyber stalking some of the other Bandster Blogs and I am jealous of the "community" y'all have. I would love to be a part of it!
